Surrounding the Gravel Garden new flower borders
have been planted in a naturalistic style to complement this open,
sunny site.
We have been influenced by the continental style of planting of
Piet Oudoulf and felt that our circumstances were ideal to experiment
in a bold way. Perennials and ornamental grasses with late summer
interest are high on our list of priorities as we have many visitors
at that time of the year. They also like our open sunny position.
The dense plantings of grasses has given a further dimension to
the flower borders as they bring a fluidity of movement that
reflects the grasslands and meadow beyond.
As the sun sets over Tennyson Downs the rays catch the many different
seed heads and create a special atmosphere to the flower borders.
